So then EBay distinguishes a TPG certified coin then? If that is the case certainly there is deception going on..... That adds up to strike one in my mind.

I kinda did this when I started my second eBay account. I bought a bunch of $0.99 free shipping items from China. It's been a quick minute but I think you needed a feedback of like 10 before you could sell items that were Buy It Now.

Most of the coins appear genuine upon cursory glance. Whether or not this is just one huge scam, I guess we’ll see.

    I placed a few bids myself :)

I've never seen anything like those before . . . pretty creative. I found the current listing for each of those sellers and reported them as being "no item" listings under "Listing Practices". They shouldn't be able to sell feedback on eBay at all . . . period.

Currently their most expensive item is a $5 gold piece from 1824. It's over $12,000 and has "collateral" written in quotes on the back of the holder. It's a raw coin.

yeah, at least for the ones I did they sent me little trinkets in the mail.

How they can do it for $0.99 shipped with fees is beyond me.

It's really quite simple. Look into it, but be forewarned that you may want to have a vomit bag handy.

Not an expert on this series, but it just looked bad to me.

Right or wrong, a lightweight eBay seller saying he is dealing with “estate coins” tends to make me run in the opposite direction, wallet clutched in both hands.

Perhaps the unpleasant customer relationship he aid he had with the original dealer was due to authenticity of the coins.

If you guys were selling a genuine Gobrecht dollar, would you feel the need to throw in a second coin as a “bonus?”

Particularly a search term "bonus" designed to achieve views....

I dunno...........no blasted way I'd pull the trigger (on a coin such as this) unless it was in some kind of a TPG holder. You're just asking for trouble on this one...........

A chance for the “experts” who don’t need TPGs (they aren’t) to get ripped off.

To get by the eBay limit of $2500 for raw coins.
