Bought an ASE for my kiddo for her birth year (2014.) She loves to hold it and has accidentally popped it out of the capsule a couple times. I acetoned it twice to get her prints off, not like it’s worth much but just habit I guess. Tonight I came home from work and she had dug into the very back of a drawer I had it in, played with it and it was once again covered in prints. I realized: 1. She has now done what I did with my great grandfather’s Morgans when I was her age. Heartwarming realization. 2. No more acetone! Gonna be much more valuable (to me) toned up with her tiny prints. (and more importantly...more fun for her.)
Since my daughter was 2, she would hold every coin like it as a '93-S Morgan in 65. I had to let her know that the stuff she gets back at the store was ok to hold like change. It took her until she was probably 5 to know the difference. I never had her mis-handle any of my coins. The people at our Coin Club got a kick out of it too. The finger prints will tone nicely and be worth their weight in gold.
