You could out it as a fake even if the photos were blurred; it has a type 2 reverse which wasn't used until 1875.

Those were on display at last months ANA show in Philadelphia. That gentleman is charged with selling $11,000 of fake gold bars, 49 counterfeit Silver Dollars and impersonation of a Federal Agent.

 

A well known fake. I was appraising a small collection for an elderly woman who mentioned she had attended some local coin club meetings. Tried to get me to buy,right now,that fake. I told her I’d get back on that. Went home & found it online.

 

I learned this from the forum, but the first thing that caught my eye was non-uniform dentils. Then the missing dentils. Kudos to Clawcoins for providing the authentic pics to compare and Joe Johnson for copping to the leg/ocean flaw.
