Well this one was one of my favirote coins for awhile. I bought it a few years back from DLRC. I thought from the get go this coin was under graded. I sent it to CAC hoping for a gold bean, only to have the coin rejected. Here's another one I bought raw that I really wanted to dip. I think if I would it might have came back higher MS62 Nice color on this MS62 Columbian AU53 but no mention of lamination Very nice original 1871 Half Not sure about this one. Looked okay to me. AU details cleaned Sadly then there’s this one. Overall happy with the submission.
I'm surprised they didn't let the 1806 quarter pass. I've seen far worse examples graded. I'm guessing they weren't a fan of the color, and I'll bet the hairlines are more prominent in hand. And, I don't see the cleaning on the dime from your pics. The others all look like nice coins!
I frequently have the TPG's disregard my request for Mint Error like your 1866. Last time it was with PCGS. I called them up and they made me wait a week longer before saying, "Oops. We forgot," before fixing it. NGC didn't put "rim clip" on my token last time either. No response from them about it, but at least I got a nice MS63 straight grade.
As a rule, the 57th St. Hoard coins are grossly overgraded. It is rare to see one properly graded, and I have yet to see one that was undergraded. Don’t you dare dip it.
I'd say that the SLH 57th St. hoard appears pretty accurately graded. Surprised they didn't let the 1806 pass. Looks like it should be market acceptable, although the cleaning may be more prominent in hand.
