Every so often, I feel I'm getting more knowledgeable about coins in general and, just as often, I'm presented with something I can't explain! I'm sure that there is a logical explanation for what happened to this quarter, so I thought I'd ask the 'experts'! quarter 2.jpg quarter 1.jpg quarter 3.jpg

Photos are too low quality. Looks like it could be an error, but I can barely see it because if the tiny photos.

Answer - I/we have seen this issue before. Extreme heat will affect the clad layer. It will bubble up and look deformed such as your Quarter.

I never even considered that it might be an error coin. I was only trying to determine what caused the damage. Hope these pics are more helpful. quarter 2.jpg quarter 1.jpg quarter 3.jpg quarter scan001.jpg quarter scan003.jpg
I'm sure these are probably not much more help than before, but it's all I have.

I REPEAT:"I never even considered that it might be an error coin. I was only trying to determine what caused the damage." Some members of this forum continually show their contempt for new members, like myself, who admittedly are relatively ignorant when it comes to knowing all there is to know about coins, such as they do. That's why we ask questions, and hope that the 'experts' are not in a snarky mood. Bye the way, does anyone else, beside (obviously) me, believe I still don't have the answer I'm looking for? DUH!
