I just meant all of this analysis prob wouldn't be nec if we could see the obv. (If the rev. was the better side looking of this fake.) How do we know the other side is even a 1916?
I don't think it's a 1916 either even though I'm no Merc Dime expert. I asked for the Obv in the first post in a separate thread before they were all pushed into one. We'll probably never see it.
You can check directly to the source...I won't name it. It's got the same details, same incomplete letters I highlighted, exactly the same.
Oh yeah. I forgot about that place briefly. I always check it before I buy something online just to see what the "fake " identifiers are. found it now. plus when I perused eBay pictures it was clearly a fake anyways.
Is it possible that coin forgers are using this site to test their work? To see if they can get a fake past the experts here before trying to sell it?
. Skip that one then, and buy a certified one from eBay or elsewhere. Skip mass merchant websites too. Foreign ones, amazon, etsy ... not the place to buy real coins.
Several requests for an obverse pic....please and thank you. Seems the consensus is the coin is fake from just the reverse, now I'm curious about the "tells" on the front, and to confirm it is a 1916-D. Excellent work by all, really like wcoins and justafarmer info...Spark
