    My third Giveaway coin, a 1943 Mercury dime, officially known as Winged Liberty head dime (but Liberty was side-lined !). Mercury, Roman god of traders and merchants etc. is obverse. The Mercury festival was celebrated on 15 May. Surprisingly, the reverse, as fasces with hatchet, symbolising unity and strength, is similar go the Italian fascist symbol. He, of course, wanted to create a new Roman Empire. But an article in Numismatic News, 'Our fascist dime', clarifies that the U.S. were first, 1916. Followed by Italy in 1919. And 1943 was the year Italy was invaded by allied forces. - BTW, 1916 was centenary of the dime, which was then re-struck in gold.- Having been minted until 1945, it was followed by a new design, of recently deceased F.D.R. - Brother, can you spare a dime ?

    That would be my guess. @Bert Gedin if you'll tell me where you want that I'll move it for you.

    wcoins queried whether my recent report was wrong thread. Perhaps it was, if it was a thread at all. And GDJMSP, Moderator, kindly offered to move it somewhere. The problem is I have no idea where to put a new report - any report. As anyone here, I like to see anything I've put together read by members, so I included it into the most recent page. How do I, without breaking the rules, include anything new, preferably without it being put on some dusty shelf, out of reach for man or beast ?

    @Bert Gedin

    Bert I moved your post and the others that went along with it, from this thread -
    https://www.cointalk.com/threads/help-conserve-my-cherrypick.322439/

    - to this thread.

    Why ? Because your post about a Mercury dime has absolutely nothing to do with a thread about using acetone on a coin in the World Coins section. Then you asked -

    First of all, it's not a question of breaking any rules. There are no rules that say you should post "this" here and "that" someplace else. It's simply a matter of common sense. For example, if you're reading a thread about using acetone on a coin in the World Coin section, then any post you make in that thread should be about that specific topic - not about a completely different topic that has nothing to do with the one currently being discussed.

    Now, to help you with your other problem - where do I post ? It's pretty simple. Take this thread for example, you wanted to make a post about a Mercury dime. There's basically two sections where a post like that would normally go - Coin Chat and US Coins. Why ? Because those two sections cover the topic you want to discuss. So if you want to post about a Mercury dime you start a new thread in one of those two sections.

    Or, if you wanted to make a post about an ancient coin, then you start a thread in and the Ancient Coins section. Or if you want to make a post about an error coin then you start a new thread in the Error Coins section. And so on and so on.

    Now if you want to make a post but you don't know what section to post it in, then click on a section and read what it says at the top. For example, this is what it says at the top for -

    Coin Chat
    Please use this section for discussion of numismatic topics that don't fit in other sections.

    And no matter what section you click on it'll say something similar to that.

    See what I mean ?

    Well if there's something you don't understand then by all means ask a question, give an example about what you want to know.

    Will do, even if I'm not a very speedy learner. Thanks, GDJMSP !
