I have these two 1992 Kennedy half dollars. Would like feedback on the goldish tone coin. Just starting collecting coins and want to make sure my collection doesn't have any fake toned coins.
I am learning coin collecting to spend time with my grandson. He has been collecting for about a year. I wanted to show this to him, and not sound like a complete newbie. So any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
if it's gold plated, and not just toned, you can buy those all day long ==> https://www.merrickmint.com/24k-gol...lar-coin-w-capsule-buy-1-get-1-free-bogo.html from various vendors of various gold coloring/plating.
More pics would help, of the reverse and edge as well. It just looks toned to me, but more pics might help.
I have a few of them found roll searching a wile back. They're plated. People made money off of them as a novelty.
Doesn't look plated at all. It is toning. Coins change color due to different environments over time.
Thanks for posting the extra photos. I could be wrong, but it looks toned to me. I hope others will give their opinion on the reverse side.
The second post with photos confirms, for me at least, that your half dollar is plated. It is not worth much more than face value.
A lot of this gold-plated stuff was pushed by the TV coin salesmen until they really got into the overpriced moderns business.
