Some time ago I had Pawn Stars playing in the background. A fellow had brought in a silver dollar sized medal that was inscribed "Not Worth A Darn"... The actual verbiage was a tad more colorful..... Rick always gives a brief history lesson on the piece being displayed. And as I recall a private firm was attempting to effect the silver market and had a number of these tokens/medals struck.... I found the medal and the history interesting but I'll be darned if I can locate anything about the piece on Google. Ultimately I believe I would like to own one. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I did a quick drive by Google search. That does not appear to be the one. This token was inscribed "Not Worth A Darn"

Was it spelled with the training "n" or not? There is the Hoover Dam out there, after all.

Yes, that would have been the correct spelling.

My favorite Hoover Dam story is that FDR kept referring to it as Boulder Dam, because Herbert Hoover "wasn't worth a dam."

I have tried also. Do you remember anything else particular about the medal?

No dagnabit..... I had friends over (more like the wife had friends over) and I was trying to listen to the program with one ear while attempting to appear engaged in conversation. The dollar sized silver token was engraved simply "Not Worth A Damn"..... And like all the items that appear on the program, Rick gave a history spiel about the piece. All I can remember was it was a privately minted dollar size token and the person doing the minting was attempting to effect the silver market.

"Dagnabit" can make you a felon, however. :troll: Rick Harrison was at the Philly ANA. I successfully evaded him. I care not at all for his ilk.

I am afraid not. Rather wish I wouldn't have seen the scintillating tidbit that I did see!

Go to "On Demand" on your cable remote, or download the network app (is it the History channel?) "pawn Stars " is on and re-run the episode.

It's time to drop channel names permanently if Pawn Stars is on "History".

It isn't one of the medals issued during the Silver 16:1 discussion involving William Jennings Bryan? Look up so-called dollars involving him and the Cross of Gold speech.
