Just got this 1961 Mint Set in the mail. you can see the wonderfully golden toned nickel! Anyways, I really like it.
ohh. That may explain why the little card inside said "proof set" hahah well, anyways... I thought proofs always came in those hard packages... :rolling:
cute. Actually, those hard cases started in 1968, (with the move of production to San Fransicso.) Previously those mylar plastics, back to 1/2 of 1955, half the year packaged as yours is, and half the year in small boxes.
Awesome! That is a great looking proof set you got there man. :thumb: Very nice. Always liked the older proofs, a bit nicer IMO. Sweet set man. :thumb: Phoenix
Thanks all. Ive been trying to get a better picture of the nickel, since I think its just beautiful. Great Bronze color... If only you could come over her and see it. lol I'll try some better ones tomorrow, but these are pretty good:
Great looking proof set! I love the nickels and Halves from these sets!!! :thumb: Thanks for sharing! BTW: If you break them out to put into safer containers you will need to show us how they look in the open. The plastic hides a lot of detail - sometimes good and sometimes bad surface conditions!
the easy way to tell proof sets from uncirculated (mint) sets, is that uncirculated sets have a colored top and bottom edge, blue for Phillidelphia, and red for Denver, while proof sets have clear edges.
