Will try to get some better photos of it if the full images here are not clear enough for some reason
Well fortunately I was able to find some very good info that actually explains how Cameos and Deep - Ultra Cameo coins are graded and hopefully this will also help some of our coin experts ... to stop attempting to put other members down and stop assuming to know it all ....
Nobody was doing that. People were giving you answers to the original question you asked, and trying to be helpful even beyond that. The info you posted above, just about everybody here already knows all of that. And is because they know that is the reason for the answers they were giving you. It was only later in the thread that you asked for explanations of how cameo was judged, it's not graded by the way but judged. But even that was partially explained early in the thread, in post #3 in fact. All by itself, post #3 explains why your coin would not be given the cameo or deep cameo designation. Nobody was trying to put you down, but some people simply don't like to write out long detailed posts so they give brief answers, without long explanations. One of them however did tell you where to get all that information when he recommended a book to you. I guess what I'm trying to tell you MrCoins is that you WERE being helped, but you simply weren't aware that you were being helped because you weren't getting the answers in the way you wanted them. edit - I would also add that post #10 answer your question about how cameo is judged.
I completely agree with Doug. I was simply trying to explain honestly what I thought, not just give you the answer you wanted to hear or "put you down."
Well unfortunately Dougs answer was obviously wrong and so he really needs to work on his honest answers and the professional way in which he presents them because like I said earlier ... I was simply seeking helpful information and not slick remarks but I noticed that those type of remarks goes on alot in the coin talk .
I'm with ToughCoins on this one. I don't see enough design "cameo" vs the fields. Doesn't Cameo has to be on both sides, with the more minor cameo having the identified designation? of course, having it graded would bring it all into perspective per the grader.
So "NO" means you understand that ULTRA CAM & DCAM have the same meaning, but then in you very next sentence you say you are using the term ULTRA CAMEO because of the level of contrast on the reverse. SMH!
I'm not sure, but I think the OP only thinks the "frosting" (or maybe toning on his?) is the cameo type and *not* the contrast between the field and design. per the site he referenced for deep cameo … "A robust contrast between the mirrored fields and frosted devices must be consistent and undiminished in all areas." I think statements like this "Both sides must have adequate levels of frosting to qualify for this designation." in the website is misinterpreted as the fields and design and not just the design.
Maybe you should read your own post. Says yeah or no. .... Doesn't say anything about books. Your a frosted tool. Lol. Don't try to pound anything in @MrCoins101 head. Will ruin a perfectly good hammer
@MrCoins101 maybe you should look at above posted picture. Then spend the rest of the day arguing with the picture for a change and give us a break.
Hopefully the images of the barely FROSTED Eagle can be seen alot better from the dull shiny background .
I was afraid to put any water on it but I decided to see if water would help . And what do you know . It has me smiling from ear to ear now a little water and little Pat dry did the trick ...
You don't seem to understand, the fields can be mirrors, the devices can have frost - but the coin would still not qualify as cameo or deep cameo. It's a question of degree - not just simple fact that they are there.
