Hey everyone, What do you guys think of this nice rainbow toned wheat? Again, I saw it on eBay at a fairly low price ($25), and I just want your thoughts on what the grade is and how much I could resell it for. Thanks for any help!
That has got to be Worth at least $2.00 - $6.00. Red Book says $4.00 - $8.00 so when you adjust for real word. The Toning colors adds no value. IMO. Here is some good information that can/may help You decide what You can and can not do with the coin in question. https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/small-cents/lincoln-wheat-cent/ https://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/#/Lincoln/Grades
Its a 1929, looks beautiful to me, I love toned coins especially cents. I bought a bag of coins at an estate auction (sight unseen) and it included a roll of 41945 cents that were all toned. They were an original bank roll. They were silver, green blue toned. A great bu roll.
100% disagree, nicely toned Lincoln always command a premium that I and MANY other collectors will pay.
Also isn't this coin BU... And wouldn't that bring a bit (much) more than $2-6? I can't find any BU wheats even from the late thirties for less than $5-10. Thanks still for responding and helping me.
I'm sorry. Didn't mean to be nasty. Was just saying it might be tuff to make any money on that coin 4. 25bucks. It is a nice coin. Sorry again
$25 seems high. Half that is retail for MS-63 1929 cent. BU would be MS-65 but I think 63 is closer to this coin.
BU =Brilliant Uncirculated, Brilliant to me mean that a coin still has its original color. Or original luster. On a Cent that would be red.
I like the color but the surfaces are just not clean enough for me. In my estimation, the $25 is a full retail price for toning premium. In other words, if I was selling this coin on E-Bay, I would list it for $25 and accept and offer of $15+.
I don't think it is BU, it is definitely UNC though. However, if it is something that you really like and think would look good in your collection, I would say to go ahead and make an offer or buy it. I think $25 is too high for that coin (that eBay seller prices their coins really high anyways) but if you have the money to buy it and don't care if you make a profit, I'd encourage you to get it. If you are looking for a 1929 BU cent, here is one for only $6 on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1929-LINCOLN-WHEAT-CENT-BU/362384016988?hash=item545fc5465c:g:NfsAAOSwL8lbR2iO&LH_BIN=1. You could always get a cheaper one too and artificially tone it.
In the numismatic world, BU=MS60-MS63. It has nothing to do with the color of the coin. You are going to confuse people when you say the coin is not BU but still uncirculated.
