hi iam thinking about submitting this 1881-0 morgan i bought to pcgs and was wondering on your opinions what this grade would i think it would grade ms64, can you give me your opinion
I don't see any problem with it grading a 64, although I'm not sure if I see a tad bit of wear or not. A nice Morgan none the less. :thumb: I'll leave this to some of the more experienced members. Phoenix
Based on the pictures, which very well might not be accurate, it has the appearance of a cleaned coin.
i would get a free review done by pcgs in one of their shows before turning that in if it comes back body bagged it wont be worth it.
I agree. If by chance it's not cleaned, it still looks like a low grade unc., at best, as there appear to be a lot of flaws on Liberty's cheek and neck.
it is impossible for me to tell what the luster is like on this coin. from a strictly technical point, i believe the strike would warrant it and both the obverse and reverse seem mark free enough , unless the line (bagmark, die crack ?) from nose to hairline as well as the marks on forehead are more severe than shown. once again, i believe it breaks down to what the attractiveness factor (unbroken luster and w/ eye appeal) is when in hand. the pics do not reflect that unfortunately, but could be a lighting factor which makes the coin appear "washed out" or dipped too many times. thanks for sharing the coin......steve
Mark is probably correct w/ his assessment as he has seen many more coins than i have..i can't tell if the cheek area is banged up or is a result of lighting and metal flow lines or even frost breaks.
The fields look muddy to me...was this coin immersed in ant cleaning solution? Pledge? Wax of any sort? Not to sure about this one. If the fields were not muted, I would say 63 to 64 Again I am not much of a grader..but the fields just look funny to me. RickieB
