Up for your opinion is an 1882 Morgan Dollar that I've owned now for over a dozen years. Bonus points for guessing the VAM (it's a MDS example but the markers are there) and extra bonus points for guessing the TPG. 1882.obv.1k.JPG 1882.rev.1k.JPG

I’ll guess 65 in a PCGS rattler. No idea on the VAM but neat clashing and sweet coin.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

If it was graded more than 12 years ago, I'd say that's a classic 64. Today, that would find its way into a 65 slab - but I still think 64 is the right grade for it. The marks on her cheek limit the grade, but the coin is quite attractive.

Edit: Posted my grade opinion here, then realized I commented on this one on the other forum. :) I need to learn how to keep track of these threads! ;) :p

It's fine to reply to both forums. Actually I tossed in a few crops over there to aid in the VAM identification because the optimizer over there tends to kill the photo quality. Hint - two of the crops are in the VAM description...https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=326256

Also - no one has guessed the TPG yet and I expect no one will...:troll:

Another hint - the ring around the dollar is a foam gasket...Conder may be the only one to have a shot at the TPG...:troll::smuggrin:

Did some research on the TPGs. Is it one of these?: Accugrade, CGI, IGS, or TCGS

So far the TPG guesses are good ones but not correct.

Not SEGS. It's smaller than a bread box but too large to fit in a PCGS box, barely.

I think the guess the TPG was a bit unfair as I've only seen a couple of these and the last time was quite a few years ago. I'll reveal the label without the grade so's not to loose any interest or forum friends.. obv.label2.5k.JPG

AGS, eh? Never heard of them. Their grade is probably MS-66 or so. :D

I am guessing that the slab says 65 but the coin in my opinion has enough distracting marks to keep it from gem MS64.

I have to throw in the towel.....
I dont have the patience to look at every single listing. I dont count online photos towards or against my vam success rate.
Im probably batting around .700 right now.

Ill go 64 but the holder might say 65
I owned a single 82p in 64 many moons ago it was bought & sold for around $100
not sure what they go for nowadays

Yeah, that one wasn't easy as far as the VAM. AGS graded it MS64 and it's a MDS VAM-28. Apparently the EDS is desirable and of course that's not the one I have..http://www.vamworld.com/1882-P VAM-28
    Thanks for playing everyone!

Not a 66 SD2017 but it very well could have been from an unknown TPG:)
