At the coin show today I found a bin on ancients where the price was $5 each. I rifled through it and saw some better coins, so I went crazy. I did not know what I was grabbing; if it looked interesting and decent, then I got it. This is my haul: The exceptions to this price were the spade and the bottom row. With the exception of the second Byzantine from the left ($40), the others were $20. Overall, good day. I hope to learn a lot about 3rd/4th century Roman coinage by identifying these, and I hope to make enough selling a few of them to cover much/most/all of what I paid for the lot.
I almost went crazy when my wife (now ex) came to a FUN show auction with me, I left with zero coins. You win, nice haul.
I see this as a good possibility but the ones that would bring the most are the ones you might prefer to keep.
Great stuff in there! Everything from an as of Antoninus Pius through some antoniniani of Aurelian to some nice LRB types.
The $5 a piece group is really nice. Not only to have fun learning about, but also to have in your collection knowing that they're excellent coins bought for a bargain.
Some really nice looking coins , a great buy. If I could get them at that price, I would not buy any more uncleaned lots . Dillan
