I found this 2013 dollar bill where the ink from the back is visible in splotches on the front. Was wondering if it is worth anything?
Welcome to Cointalk IMO it isn't worth anymore than face value but let's see what other's think. Dave
Welcome to CT. It's worth $1.00. If you're just getting into this keep it. It's in great condition and you found it. It is a bleed through but very minor in nature.
Well that's cool it's on the top and the bottom is more than just the bottom part right there and you can definitively see definition of the picture from the back
The second one. The ink on the back of the next sheet wasn't quite dry, and a bit of it transferred to the front of this sheet. "Bleed through" is not a thing that happens on modern currency. The inks are thick and pasty, resting on top of the paper rather than soaking into it. Even on an error note where there's a massive smear of excess ink, you won't see it showing through to the other side of the paper.
When I held it up to the light, it perfectly matches the back side picture, which is why I believe it is a bleed through. If it were from another bill not being dry then I don't thing it would match perfectly, also there is no smearing as there would be with transference, cause when they are stacked, the paper is going to move. I get what you're saying but, there's no way in my eyes that that is the case.
But regardless I trust that it isn't worth more than face value, but it is interesting to say the least, thanks for all the input, I had another bill where the numbers were smeared, I think I still have it but it's in storage at the moment, it's on several of the numbers, would that be worth anything?
An offset ink transfer is from the bill touching the printing bed and not from the wet ink reverse of another bill. Either way face value. You would need a much larger area and amount of ink to have value over face.
I have the same thing with my one dollar bill. I have ink on Washington’s face. I feel it’s a bleed through, also. It matches perfectly to the other side.
I have two 2017 one dollar bills. The series numbers are in order, last four numbers on the bills are 6987B, 6988B. Bill 6987b has seven major bleed marks on the black seal and three on Washington face. Bill no. 6988B. has five bleed marks on the black seal. edited
I have 3 consecutive 2017 and one non consecutive 1 $ bills and however from the same G&D series and you can see the O and E from the reverse "ONE in to the obverse BESIDES Washington's face. BRENDY. S
