I am focusing on Kennedy Half Dollars. It started with coins handed down from my father-in-law. Most of them went into Volume One, 1964-1985 (still nine empty slots). The rest went into Volume Two, 1986-2003 (mostly still empty). And, none into Volume Three (2004-Present). I went to my bank and phoned four other banks looking for rolls of half dollars. My bank had one roll. I could order a box of half dollar rolls from the bank for $500.00 (total face value of the coins). Then I read in the Guide Book Of US Coins (2019), in 2002 the Mint stopped putting the coins in general circulation through banks. They only sell rolls and bags directly to the public (for a premium). Unless I get that box of coins from the bank I will have to purchase coins from the internet or coin shows. Certainly, post 2001 half dollars will have to be purchased for a premium. The Mint is selling 2017-P,D and 2018-P,D half dollars, so I bought one roll of each. Now what do I do with them? I can place one of each into Volume Three, but now, what do I do with the rest of those 2017 & 2018 coins?
So, what about examining each coin carefully for minimum scratchs, defects, etc. could there beca gem?
I can help you get rid of your surplus of superfluous stuff. A donation to the CB Collection would be nice.
We’ll see about that. Is this an early entry to the secret Santa? Yep, you hear it here first, secret Santa will be back again this year, get yourselves ready for a banner year.
If you have a club or show near, go to it, and you may sell, trade for what you need. Do not spend them, since they are UNC from the mint. That would be a waste. You will find other in the club that would be willing to buy some to fill slots in their books.
