That feeling of having lost a 21d merc happens to me and then I wake up.

I "lost" a 2001 proof set that belongs to my son. He wanted to look at the coins and I proceeded to the drawer where his coins are kept, and lo and behold, they were gone. After a few stressful minutes of racking my brain I decided to pull the draw out of the cabinet to see if they had fallen back behind the drawer. Sure enough, there was the proof set.

Time for a larger set of drawers!

Time to spend some money and at least get some cardboard flips. It's somewhat easy for someone to see a pile of change and borrow it.

It's another thing entirely for someone to rip open a stapled cardboard flip to get the coin out. There's no mistaking the intention to save and preserve the coin. With a cardboard flip, there is no excuse for anyone caught with the coin.

I wasn't kidding about that parallel universe thing. I heard that somewhere. Haven't you ever just dropped something and when you look down, it is just GONE. You place something on a table, walk away, come back and it is gone. Then sometime later the same thing reappears but not always in the same place. It is a kind of joke about socks in a dryer but the static electricity makes this alternate universe jump more common. The thing is whatever goes there, something somewhere else must appear to replace that of approximately equal mass. haven't you ever found something that you just know wasn't there a little while ago.
Example is in my garage I lost my glasses case. It was on the workbench one minute, then just gone. I tore the area apart but nothing. Several hours later there is was on the floor right by my feet. It was not there before that.
If you loose a coin, or coins, somewhere there is a person that suddenly finds them. If the ignore them, they will eventually pop back to where they belong and you find them. Not always in the same place, but there they are.

you need to get a fireproof safe for your coins. they usually run around $20 at walmart for a good sized one. i don't know if there are any walmarts in canada though. on a side note one time i found a few of my indian head cents in my moms change can! :yawn:she was cleaning the house too and just thought it was regular change.
