Know nothing of coins and found this. Not too much concerned about it's value as I think it is going to start a new hobby. Need to know if this is an error or damage sorry for the bad picture but whatever. I'm sure someone could see enough to fill me in. Unable to figure out how to attach image so made it my avitar.

Avatars are too small to be able to get a good enough idea what it is. There is a option that says upload a file click it and attach a file.

Thank u eric. Reason why I like it so much is catch goes to edge of hair on both sides and not out.

Can you place the Nickel on a flat surface?
Better lighting also would help. Try a black background.

It's intriguing, but difficult (at least for me) to determine whether that's damage (most likely) or a prominent strikethrough error (much less likely, but very cool if so).

As suggested, we'll need better pictures to determine that.

Does sorta look like Zorro and Tom Jefferson had a disagreement, and Zorro won, now that you mention it!

It does but a good photo of the entire obverse and reverse would be helpful also. Most of the time it's just because we like to see the whole coin. And some of the time it is to help us give you an answer.
No need to photo the coin at an angle. Full size image is also good.

In the picture it looks like possible doubling but not in person to me anyway.

Looks like a strikethrough, Whatever it was was fairly thin, probably a metal shaving.

Cool! It does indeed look like a strikethrough.
