Hello there, I received a bill as payment and noticed it was printed strange. I don’t know where to go or who to talk to about the value of this bill. Can anyone help me out? Thanks so much!

    Welcome to Coin Talk.

Very nice error note @Brandyleanna . It’s called a printed foldover.

    Probably worth between $250 - $400.

Does something like this become more valuable overtime?

Oh that is awesome. Nice error.
The first photo made it look like a fake bleach job, until you folded it over.
    Great one.
(2nd photo good too. Good photography/ uploads).

I can't believe that note was even in circulation.. Beautiful!

I think a Paper Currency error collector spent it by mistake :banghead:

Wow that's nice! Never seen that before. I have seen very trivial printed foldovers, but none where the serial number was on the wrong side! I wonder if people would accept that as legal tender because it doesn't have the second serial number on the front.

OP did, and will make out like a bandit on it.
I'm surprised no one picked up on it before she did.

Not especially. If you're not a collector yourself and you just want to cash in on the lucky find, I'd say now's as good a time as any.

I'd never sell that. I would put it in a (mylar?) sleeve and keep it for a long time.

And if you put it in a sleeve, don't fold it. That will create a crease.

Hmmmm. Dont know guys. This seems like a fake fold over print. SN doesn’t seem to align when folded over and seal appears to be an ink stamp replica. Check out a seals crisp lines. I would take it in to a dealer to inspect.

Completely missed this but here is the reason why it’s a fake.

1996 redesign added fed seal to the engraving not as an overprint. Clearly someone is trying to pull this off as an overprint error. If it were a face plate print error then its also missing partial face plate printing on the back. Plate position of A3 was chosen correctly as top left note of a 16 note sheet to be serialized but where is the top sheet selvage.

If this is a fake the white area on the obverse can be checked for bleaching.

Can someone please explain how part of the obverse was printed on the reverse while the entire reverse was printed just fine. Also, in the 3rd photo it just doesn't seem to line up correctly.

The back is printed first, no problem. The front is printed next, no problem. The half-sheet gets a corner fold prior to the third print, and the back gets a partial imprint of the Fed.seal and serial numbers.

Wow, I know nothing about any of this so I was just asking a question, thanks so much to everyone for the responses. I will figure out where to take it and have t looked at. I don’t have any interest in keeping it or even learning much about it I just knew it looked different and thought I’d put some feelers out. Thanks again all :)

Hopefully I can figure out where to take it and will let you know if it’s real or not haha
