Stipulated. Now tell me why to care about die deterioration doubling. Because I've tried and I can't. I can BARELY care about hub doubling, but I do own some. Rick's pictures at post#28 are a classic true hub doubling that I can't get worked up over.
Ok.. First there is what is called a Die. Then there is a Blank Planchet. The Die Strikes the Blank Planchet to create the image on the coin. After many strikes the Die becomes Deteriorated. So it is then replaced. When the Die reaches the end if its usage what you see is Die Deterioration Doubling.. I can't explain it any better than that. Got it? It's not a new form of DDD
@MrCoins101, please take a close look at the letters on post #28's photos. Then look at your 1967's letters. See anything not there? No "notches" at the corners where your letters meet, unlike in post #28. Now, is yours DDD? I'd like to think the Mint would not let SMS coins' dies go that long, but it CAN be strike doubling, or machine doubling, which I believe it is.
By the way, just in case you haven't been around long enough, the entire SUBJECT of the current fascination with "doubling" has me tearing my hair out, mostly figuratively, but occasionally literally.
Send your coin in for certification .. that will prove or disprove your desire of your coin to be DD. As you gain more and more experience you'll be able to differentiate between MD, DDD and real DD. I'm glad I'm not alone as Wexler's website has confused me on some stuff but I figured I just didn't get it.
Wexler is an ideologue about this subject. Once you know that, you can see the tilted perception. This stuff is his raison d'être.
I love when that happens. Was going thru a batch of 72 cents. Found 3 sure fire 72DDO's. Still have a jar and a half left. Maybe I'll find the big one yet. Keep on truckin
Straight up. Paddyman is very knowledgeable. Hes one of our main go to guys when we wants a straight answer IMO. You should be glad when he gives you a professional (IMO) answer or opinion. I know i am.
I can never find pure matches on wexlers myself. So there's always a question in my mind. Thats why i try cointalk. These meembers are big help. @MrCoins101 kind
Thought you were going to let it go. You say for us to understand your personality and have regrets for it. Then you throw another spear. I think thats your problem. Try not to force it on us. We're good people. You'll never change that with your words. I'll be nice to you. Enjoy your searching
