    Hi!

Take a look at this 1852 LC which is struck on a very thick planchet. Everything about the coin seems legit except the tick planchet and that the diameter seems a bit smaller than a comparable 1852 LC.

Does anyone know anything about this? Fake? Errror? Common?

    Thanks for any insights.

    Thanks.

Do you know how common this post-mintage damage is?

Fairly common. I saw a seated half dollar on eBay like this last week. The reeding was gone and the edge was curled like that.

I have an 1882 $10 gold piece [acquired as bullion] with no reeding. I don't see any file marks, and it is very near full weight, so I suspect it has been spooned. In college, I had a dorm mate who who spoon silver quarter [it was pre-1964] when we were just sitting around shooting the breeze.

I have a question...Were coins ever rolled in paper and stored by banks in rolls back in the mid 1850s?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Fairly common. If you keep going at it, you can actually make a ring this way.
    No.
