Ya beat me to it Chris, I was gonna say it was a matter of philosophy - it's sixes.

But basically what Kurt is saying is this. I was doing just fine driving down the road at 35 over the speed limit. But then that cop came along and just ruined everything !

Yup, it does. But only when it is the mods opinion that a member broke the rules, and it is the member's opinion that he didn't.

Christian, my point in agreeing with V Kurt on his opinion is there is one or are some who don't care to actively moderate their own selves and it becomes apparent they are going beyond the steps or actions they need to make sure CT rules are respected. In other words, they let their opinions and beliefs get inserted in it where they should not.

But V Kurt can push back anytime he chooses. I'm glad some do. More power to him for choosing to challenge. For my own personality, I don't consider pushing back on here valuable to me too much. In other words, perhaps I see the person or persons I refer to as either inconsequential to me or I just don't respect them for not controlling themselves more, and it pretty much just ain't worth my time interacting with them any more than absolutely necessary. At some point in time they just might disappear or actually become aware of what they are doing and try to be more impartial. Regardless, life goes on.

As long as any group is involved, there are going to be people withing that group who have different ideas about what is right, and what is wrong. That will never change.

The problem that some members have is that their opinions are different than those of the mods as to exactly what is right and what is wrong. In any event, it is the mod's job to make those decisions, not the members.

There are two different things. One is "I am who I am because I'm right". The other is "I'm 'right' by definition because of who I am". Doug is not self-aware enough to know the difference.

For whatever it's worth, you should be happy with what ya got. Because if Peter was actually moderating, you'd be thinking that things just got a whole lot worse !

In other words, he is more strict than any mod by several factors. And if you don't believe that, just ask him.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried Kurt.

The title of the thread is asking why people leave here suddenly. I'm repeating the answers I was told, nothing more.

And I will repeat that those "answers" are always based on perception. And no matter what is done or not done, or who is a mod and who isn't - there are always going to be differences in those perceptions.

A wise man once said - You can please some of the people some of the time, ..........

And the perception is that YOU are NOT the biggest problem, far from it.

True story...I had to attend a driving class in CA after being ticketed for speeding. In that class, the instructor was asking what everyone's offence was when one guy spouted off with "Well, I have a Mercedes Benz and I drive fast to avoid accidents. I just drive around them, I try and get to 100 mph on the freeway onramp." The instructor was dumbfounded.

Well, there is the case of former Governor Ed Rendell, who had his driver routinely go 110mph regularly on the PA Turnpike because he had the skills to do so. Flashing blue lights, of course.

By the way, my driving record is clean - no moving violations, no fault accidents. One paperwork violation. I've BEEN hit about 6 times, all 100% the other guy's fault as per the insurance company. On the worst one, I was stopped at a red light and got rear-ended by a guy doing 70.

Well on 4 of 'em, I was stopped, once in a legal parking space and watched a guy nail me. On the two others, guys ran red lights. One of those ended my '83 Trans Am's life.

Since the rules and whether ANYONE violates them is your personal call 100% of the time, isn't the question rather pointless?

Since my cerebral hemorrhage in 2009, driving REQUIRES full 100% attention at all times, because my sense of momentum is impaired. It is a supremely draining experience because I need to use the attention of a race driver just to do 40mph.

65mph is almost overwhelming. I can't even IMAGINE texting while driving.

Anyone who feels they have been unfairly wronged by moderation can PM ( conversations) Doug and give the thread, post numbers and particulars. The program keeps the history of post change of everyone ( including mods) so it will remain unchanged. If you feel Doug didn't referee fairly, PM Peter. If Peter doesn't agree with you, and you still believe you are correct, well, I guess accept it or not. I know ( because I have seen it occur, that if a mod steps out of line, we have to really answer for it .
The job is like a referee in a game. The home team "always get bad calls", and they lost because of the referee ( I myself still disagree with the Index card first down), but you move on. As a child I once went to my grandma's house and all she had for lunch was a bean sandwich, It was all she had until the end of the week, so I ate it rather than complain that I wanted sliced ham as she would have cut off my tongue ( or so she threatened). You can only get what is available.

And moderators tend to read many threads during a session and become acquainted with most of the members postings. And about this thread real subject, I can say honestly, that the vast majority of members who do not post anymore are doing other hobbies, changed their life styles, changed jobs, just read rather than post, become ill and not wanting to do other than watch the 145 channels they have, and sadly those that have died ( some have posted about their problems. or their family members did afterwards). So, if some think rapping the moderators will change things towards favoring your lines of conversation more, it will not!
If Doug and Peter are satisfied with it, I am also. This is a tremendous forum and group of people, and most people know it. IMO Jim
