    Hi,
I need this coin for my Dansco 7070.
But it's still sealed like issued.
Would you open this one, because it's not of high value and to fill the Dansco?
Or would you leave it Like it is and hope for increasing value for it's originality in future?
    Thanks.....

Proof is a method of manufacture, not a condition...PF70 is a condition.

My opinion: unless you think it has a shot at PF70, I would crack it out. Honestly, there are lots of these floating around and I personally only see them as melt value.

Which hole in the Dansco 7070 would this fill?

Yes, I am wondering that too. Is there some special Olympic Dansco or something?

No, it's just the only modern Dollar I own and I like the design of the Eagle.

I have seen that Olympic coin around and it is nice. I have not seen the packaging you are showing it in, but it may be some sort of early issue packaging or something. I would say just check to see if there are any out there like yours, with the same packaging that have sold, and what they sold for. If you don't find much I would say pull it out and keep it in your collection.

Yeah.... Empty holes in a book make me crazy. I would have to break it out. Just be careful handling so you don’t leave a fingerprint. A fingerprint displayed on a proof in a book stands out like a big scratch on your new car.

They were sold this way by the LAOOC at souvenir stands. I personally keep all proofs OUT of my 7070 album.

    Kurt, would you open it?

If I REALLY wanted it for my 7070, yes, I would. I've cracked out slabs for my 7070.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I would not open it, myself. These commems are worth more in their original packaging. And as soon as you open it, you run the high risk of fingerprints or damage. In the end, of course, the choice is yours.

If you need a coin for your set, maybe consider buying one that is already opened, and one which may have more meaning than "that's the only one I have."

I would leave it in the holder. It makes a common coin, more interesting. I also don't put proofs in albums.

Not just Dansco, but Whitman, Littleton, the ones the Mint themselves sold, the one the British Royal Mint STILL sells for 50p coins, ALL OF THEM. As long as you disagree with Doug, you're going to be "wrong".

No, they just don't understand or are unaware of the downsides of albums. Albums are arguably responsible for harming and or destroying more coins than any other single factor.
