Constans - Two Victories, not great but not bad

I bought several really grimy uncleaned coins for about $2 a piece with the intention of trying my best to clean and ID them. Since I'm just starting out, I thought that this would be a good cheap way to get started.
This is the best coin I have cleaned up so far. Easy to identify mint and type. Unfortunately, it shows more detail when a bit wet than when it is completely dry.
It probably isn't worth the $2 that I paid for it if I were to try and sell it (which I never would haha), but I think it was worth $2 for the education :)

Nice coin @furryfrog02 . An identifiable coin for $2 is more than worth it IMO.

I don't have a Constans of this type but I do have two dueling victories for Constantius II

To me it looks like the victories are about to throw down :punch::eek:

“Shows more detail when a bit wet”.... I have a few similar coins that had the same issue after cleaning. I found that using Renwax on them kept that “wet look” and improved the detail.
Search the forum for “renwax” or renaissance wax and you will find some threads with more info. Some collectors don’t use it... but for me using it on lower end LRBs really makes a difference.
    Great buy for $2!!

That is the point! When you go to coin college, you pay tuition and have to buy books. You stay up late and study. Coin college is not cheap. Someday you may get a better job and cash in on the investment. Someday you may enjoy knowing a bunch of trivia about your field of study while you are paid for doing something completely different. Either way you can say you came out ahead. Someday those $2 coins may not mean as much to you as they do now. Perhaps your son will be collecting aurei by then so he won't want them either. I hope you get your $2 worth out of them and find someone else who will benefit from them also.
