Had a guy a few months back who showed me a 1936-D Columbia SC Half Dollar in a old PCGS Green Label holder. I've always liked these being from the Columbia SC area. I made him a offer on it and he told me he would think about it and left. Then this past Sunday he showed up again and asked if I was still interested in the coin. I made him the same offer I did before and he sold it to me. Nice coin with a mintage of just over 8,000 coins so one you don't see everyday.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I really don't like the design of these, but as a South Carolinian, I also really want one. These are really hard to get in high grade.

That is the lowest grade of these I have seen. It has to have a low census. I don't think the Columbias were mishandled much when they were issued.

The lower grade ones probably just aren't submitted often, because they aren't worth much. Even in 65 and 66, these are pretty common.

I think The Population for this grade is 15. Not sure why they called it MS-62. I've seen ones that looked much worse graded 65. They don't really jump in price until MS-67 and MS-68 Tops out at over $4,250.
