Reverse proofs are FAR less attractive than last year’s “Unhanced Encirculated” effort. That was true coiners art.

  3. Leave discovery for those it can.. intead of sucking all the air out of what type of sense is recieved. You’d think you worked for something more. That way...(Good Will Hunting) you can be at the same place where discovery is no one knowing the better..

I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea but I got mine today and I’m very happy with them.

Is it just me, or does that guy's avatar just creep everyone out? I feel like M. Night Shyamalan is involved.

I just looked at the Mint page and they have lifted the household limit - no limit. They must not be very popular.

The HH limit died, AS ADVERTISED, on Day #2 of sales. As of the 29th, about 154,000 had sold. The Mint did EXACTLY and PRECISELY what collectors asked them to do - protect collectors from 10 minute sellouts and THEN open the floodgates.

I DON'T GET THE NEGATIVITY HERE. Or is your REAL hobby ragging on the U.S. Mint?

I guess I should apologize for not following 'your' standard. I thought this was a coin talk board where everyone's thoughts had some merit. I think that you could have given me that news from the mint without adding in the insult. Is your REAL hobby trying to get everyone tuned in to your position?

My REAL hobby is exploding myths. People like their myths. Coin people ESPECIALLY like their myths. Heck, even our moderators here get to falling in love with their myths.

And there are people like me. I don't like myths either. But, rather than 'exploding' one I try to work out of it with some civility. The myth you have about me is that I am included in that group of net surfers that can keep up with the younger generation - like you. The myth you have about me is that I am a troll looking for something to bite into and stir up trouble. Or, one of those that can reach right out to a net location and find what they need quickly. I'm not and can't and am too old to start now.

You've well earned your cynicism, sir. The Mint is NOT a good friend to the traditional collector. They have a new mandate, real or perceived. They (U.S. Mint) look around them and see world mints so abusing their customers that they can't help thinking, "Well, at least we're not THAT bad". They really do think they are doing EXACTLY what collectors want. They ASKED them, really they did! But yes, you're right, they didn't ask the old guard. Their/our shelf life is limited. They really believe they are doing what the younger up and coming collectors want. Are they right? I doubt it. But they believe it.

Thanks Kurt. When I started I could get Twenty Cent pieces, Liberty Nickels, all Morgan coins, etc. in change. Therefore, I grew up with a different model of collecting. I see that it will never come back to that.

Except for the 20's, I had the same experience. Yes, the V nickels were rough, but still.

  18. You can’t lower you’re own image on you’re own page for others sake.. marking out truth of you’re characteristics for future REFERENCE. But it IS allowed to follow people into a narrow place with the intent to biasedly upend they’re potential of image?
