    "American Innovation $1 Coin Act

(Sec. 2) This bill directs the Department of the Treasury, over a 14-year period beginning in 2019, to mint and issue 'American Innovation' $1 coins commemorating innovation and innovators from each state, each U.S. territory, and the District of Columbia. Treasury shall issue four coins per year, in alphabetical order by jurisdiction, until a coin has been issued for each jurisdiction. Treasury may mint and issue a $1 coin in 2018 to introduce the series. Neither the bust of any person nor the portrait of any living person may be included in the design of the coins."

"The bill instructs Interior to continue to mint and issue $1 coins honoring Native Americans and their contributions."

State quarter order. The link is not the bill that ultimately passed.

Ah yes, I see that in the full text version. Dang, that means we have to wait until 2033 to see what American Samoa chooses...

I couldn't wait for the Presidential dollars to end. Now they want to start another series? It is only a revenue tool for the US Mint. They need to issue something the general population wants and needs. They can do away with the "Gold Dollar" and the Half Dollar.
They are only a collector item.
Kids can't get them in circulation so the next generation of collectors won't happen. This will be the end.

I agree if they're not circulated they won't catch on. But I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen...

I really do agree Rassi. They look more like trade tokens or bus tokens. I am 75 years old and have been collecting for 70 years. I think it is time for me to get out.

Be the change you seek. Want small dollars and halves to circulate? CIRCULATE THEM! Circulation is NOT somebody else's job - it's OURS.

"The inscription of the year of minting or issuance, mint mark, and “E Pluribus Unum” will be edge-incused into all coins."

Mint marks on the edge again? This alone makes me completely disinterested in what might otherwise be an interesting series. Can't tell what the mint mark is when it's in an album or holder? No thanks. These are non-circulating coins for the collector market. They should know better.

I don't think that is an option when you must pay a premium for the coins. When you put them in circulation you only get face value. Is there another option that I am missing?

Yes, for the most recent issues, that's right. But the banking system does still have halves and dollars out there in circulation and they are available.

I use dollars and halfs all the time. 80% of the time the clerk knows what they are.
