So the timing is perfect, right after the Holidays when you have spent$$$$ the hard to find notes start poping up! I am tracking an elusive New York Star that has been difficult to locate in even this plus moderate condition. I hope by tomorrow I will be able to post the pic of hopeful NY star to my collection. Well guy's here it is the elusive * I was talking about. Tje NY Series 1950* I have been looking for this one for quite a while. This note is Graded PCGS AU58 and not the grade I really would like to have, however, I am not going to be so choosy due to their availibility. If a CHCU example comes around, then I will try to upgrade then... I am happy with this one for now.....:thumb: Regards, RickieB

Congrats RickieB! :thumb: As a very inexperienced note collector can you please tell me what makes this note AU vs CHCU. The scans don't show anything I can see that detracts from it. Darryl
the photos do look nice, but some things i can see that might lead it to be AU and not CHCU - the notes does appear to be a wee-bit off center, the corners dont look perfectly squared - a little rounding on them. On the face of the note, in the center above the portrait, near the very top there is what looks like slight soiling, possibly by handling or light folding. Also on the bottom of the face of the note, to the left of the portrait, alomost half way between the portrait and the signature looks like a small finger print. what i notice here might just be illusions from scanning - but its what i see slight imperfections aside - a very applaudable note!!!!
Hello Darryl... Here is the explaniation for you; Uncirculated --- A perfectly preserved note, never mishandled by the issuing authority, a bank teller, the public or a collector. Paper is clean and firm, without discoloration. Corners are sharp and square, without any evidence of rounding. An uncirculated note will have it's original, natural sheen. About Uncirculated --- A virtually perfect note, with some minor handling. May show very slight evidence of bank counting folds at a corner or one light fold through the center, but not both. An AU note cannot be creased, a crease being a hard fold which has usually "broken" the surface of the note. Paper is clean and bright with original sheen. Corners are not rounded. Regards, RickieB

Thank you Gentlemen for your kind words...I am working on the 1950$10 star as well. I have a lead on one and I hope to contact the dealer for images and info.... This New York Set is really getting rather expensive...and some of the 1928 notes I need are out of sight... expensive....at this point in time, I am not 100% confident that I can finish this task.
