So did I. I read the thread title expecting a common Canadian cent since I get at least one a month in change even down here in the south. Pleasantly surprised to see a second-to-last-year-of-issue large cent!
You know those northerners always have to come down here and try to figure out why us southern folk have it so good!
Wow a Canada Lg. Cent! Not what I was expecting to see. These aren't easily mistaken for a US cent so it kinda makes you wonder how it got in a 7-11 give a penny take a penny tray.
I haven't even seen a Canadian cent since I left New England in 1974. I did, however, get a very nice Canadian quarter in a Coinstar the other week. I don't remember where I put it, so I don't remember the year... mid sixties I think. No telling how that ever made it to Baton Rouge.
Congrats on your find. Here in the South we get stuck with Canadian coins because the stores won't take them back when you make a purchase. Lucky us ?
Nice find. Being close to the Canadian border, I get Canadian coins in change all of the time, but nothing that old.
