I urge you to try to compile data from multiple sources (email, PM etc), pair them up and post them together without an individual seed number. You will quickly realize why seeds are important! :p:p

Plus its meant to bring to mind a sports bracket. When PMing and keeping on a spreadsheet numbers are easier to handle than long names. Having the same numbers in the title helps keep me from making mistakes and posting the wrong two people together.:eek::rolleyes:

I did update to this. So maybe this will be easier.

Yes, it is! Thank you. I had voted in polls 1-3, so now that #4 is up I can tell I need to vote in that one and I will do so shortly.

I voted the straight @Ryro ticket on this one, but tip my hat to @BenSi's Byzantine as well. I'm biased towards Greek over Byzantine, but did try to set that aside in my thinking. I suspect some of the bias still crept in, subconsciously. Some future study of Byzantine coins certainly wouldn't hurt me. I try to be a pretty well-rounded numismatist and think I do have a pretty broad knowledge (if not especially deep in certain areas ... like Byzantine coins, of which I own exactly one example).

Anyway, applause for both cointestants here.

The clear countermark and Ryro giving us some historical context behind the issue of that particular AtG tet made me give my Interest vote to him.

I think both did well on Value, but given the exceptional quality of that John II tetarteron, I do think that BenSi did better here.

I really anguished over the Eye Appeal category, as I strongly prefer the aesthetics of Hellenistic Greek art over Byzantine. I caused myself no small amount of cognitive dissonance with my ultimate choice.

Maybe we should dispense with all these voting shenanigans and decide each contest with a coin flip, eh? :wacky: Wow!

While I am partial to Alexander the Great coins, I must say that’s a fantastic Byzantine tetarteron!

Another hard choice, I really love Byzantine and Greek coinage. This one I will have to ponder while at work tomorrow. Both of you did wonderfull write-ups!

Since diss = to disrespect, I'm sorry you felt that way. I had to be honest and call it as I see it, no disrespect intended. Sorry you felt that way.

Well ladies and gentleman we have a tournament first... a tie!! Also, we shattered our participation record yet again with at least 71 people voting in the poll!!

    RESULTS
    #7 @BenSi - 106
    #26 @Ryro - 106

Never fear though. I have been prepared to handle just this eventuality in a completely random (i.e. fair) manner.

Since @Ryro is the lower seeded ("visiting") team I will open it up for him to pick a number between 1 and 10.

Okay...... what will it be @Ryro ?

Okay, so since @Ryro picked the number 3 (which is odd) I assigned him all the odd numbers between 1 and 10 and assigned all the even numbers between 1 and 10 to @BenSi .

and the results are... 8 (even number)

A BIG thank you to both participants. What a match!

@Ryro, your coin is great and technically it survived this contest as unbeaten. Congratulations for that! Be Well.
