Need help identifying these three coins. They appear to be ancients. Not sure if they are real or copies. Need your help. Best pictures I can get at the moment without a good camera :/. Any feedback appreciated.
First one is Vespasian,RIC 163 or RIC 233 the edging looks like it could be fake- ( seems very flat, not rounded- which it should be over the centuries) 2nd one looks greek, but same sharp edging. IDK about the 3rd one
I do believe the two roman coins are not authentic. I can't speak to the last coin. Better images would help, plus weight and measurments.
First one is supposed to be a Judea Capta of Vespasian 2nd is supposed to be a Roman Republican denarius of Carisius EDIT: Typed as Bing posted. They all look fake.
As Bing said, the Vespasian Judaea Capta is a modern replica of a Roman Imperial coin. The second is a modern replica of a T. Carisius denarius (a Roman Republican era coin). The third... out of my area but appears to be a jeweler's replica of something.
3rd one looks like a medallion British empire George V could be genuine... IDK, just converted into a medallion I think its an Indian Rupee under UK dominion. ( George V)
Looked them all up based upon your knowledge of what they are supposed to be and couldn't agree more on them being copies. They don't look like the real photos of these coins. Incredibly helpful to you all, as I didn't even know where to start. I'm a US and World coin guy, so ancients are way out of my league. I may stop back by with a few more soon. I need to get a better camera especially for these ancients, as they are incredibly darker that my other coins.
The third is a George V half-pice coin of British India, though whether it's heavily worn or just a charm resembling a half-pice, I'm not sure. It could be real but just weird looking due to the jewelry wear. Not a valuable coin in any event, though there's a tiny bit of silver in those. I agree that the Roman coins are modern fakes.
Last coin is a British Indian coin - a George V 1/2 Pice. It's a cast copy or jewelers replica - it should be in copper http://www.jfcampbell.us/india/george5/george5.htm#HPice
I stand corrected. A half-pice should indeed be copper. I was thinking of 2-pice coins when I mentioned silver.
negative they come in silver as well https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...ee-km-524-1912-1936-cuid-1202540-duid-1477178
oh i see. . I stand corrected. Its is fake. , sorry, the reverse was so blurry. OP. whoever you bought them from owes you some $$. I hope you can return them for a refund
And there's nothing wrong with that. It's not unusual to find coinlike jewelry charms mixed in with bulk lots. As long as you didn't pay big money for 'em, it's all good. They might have some (very modest) value as costume jewelry trinkets.
It's a shame that Vespasian Judea Capta coin isn't genuine... That coin is a great piece of history. It's actually a commemorative coin minted by the Roman Empire, celebrating the defeat of Jewish rebels who were unhappy with Roman rule. I personally love coins that tell a good story. I've got a Judea Capta myself and it's one of my favorite coins. Unfortunately, yours looks to be a modern cast fake.
Haha okay. You got me there. Here's my example for reference: Emperor Vespasian (AD 69 to AD 79) Judea Capta Sestertius
