I did some research and found the coin on wildwinds which seems my coin style matches very well. Only part did not match is date which is above ET in front of agripina bust. Can someone tell me what is the date on my coin?

The coin from wildwinds link is below:

This one has B on top of ET but my coin is not B so I think its different date but I can not understand the roman date system.

There is an inconsistency in date and style. The date is G ET which is 56-57 and nero time. But the style of bust looks like Agripinna and caligula . Please compare these 2 coins one is caligula and agripinna I the other is nero and agripinna II but if you look carefully you see the agripinna hair style are different and my coin matches the one with caligula but the date is the one with nero so I think it is a mistake that proves it could be fake???

Guys Eventually I found the coin the date is correctly matches with the caligula too somehow based on below coin on acsearch. But the coin is actually caligula and agripinna I but CBG did mistake in attribution.

@arashpour, I am utterly baffled by your continued buying of ancient coins. You buy them and immediately question their authenticity, posting them for inexpert opinions on every board you can find and then ignoring the opinions of the members who are most experienced, instead listening to people who exemplify the Dunning-Kruger effect.

As so many others have said...

Know the coin or know the dealer.

@TIF I dont see any issue of asking questions. No body can claim expert specially when comes to authenticity even I saw some NGC slabbed coin that was fake and you tell me NGC is 100% correct and trustable??? So please let us discuss the coins here that is whole point of places like this no one should be holy to not question except god! anything else can be questioned and this is the point of forums like this. You can only be certain when FEW (not one) expert with trained eye look at a coin and tell it is good !

@TIF why dont you say to other members like below link? It seems many people in past posted and asked questions of the coins they purchased ! DO NOT Discriminate !

It's the frequency, Arash. Asking questions is okay. Doing so frequently is off-putting. Doing so and then disregarding or arguing with experienced collectors who respond is off-putting.

I don't understand why you have bought so many coins whose authenticity you question. It would be far better to buy from dealers you trust or to otherwise determine authenticity before purchasing (although screening purchases here or on Forum Ancient Coins is a bad idea).

Every ancient coin collector probably has some coins they have come to question over the course of their collecting "career". If it is happening every week, perhaps there is a problem.
No, I did not tell you that.

Nice editing, 'Mark' :D. I don't think making a second account really helps to prove your point, Arash. Interesting to see that the coin 'Mark' posted just happened to have sold on Vcoins a while ago and is of the exact same type as was discussed here previously.... And his one other post just happened to be in this topic, right after Arash went offline, which he subsequently edited to say something different. Forget to switch accounts?

EDIT: Oh and if it wasn’t enough, apparently Mark’s avatar can also be provenanced to Arash's collection.

I have come to the feeling that this entire matter was intended to destroy Coin Talk and make fun of regular posters. I will not be participating in future 'Is it real' posts for a while and ask the owners of this list to investigate which of our recently active members might be inappropriate according to the rules.

I like Forum's rule...if you don't know enough to give advice, don't! Why not just listen instead? You might learn something. And with that I really am done...

Absolutely agree with this point of view, although I might make an exception for long-term members here.

Even when I participate in these types of threads (on topics such as 12 Caesars where I'm somewhat knowledgeable), I feel uncomfortable doing so since I'm not an expert and no one should rely on my opinion.

Opinions are fine, but if they're just opinions you're not going to learn from them. If you're concerned about authenticity, pay an expert to provide his/her expert opinion.

Why not explaining beginners how to authenticate coins by themselfes to reduce the risk of being fooled ?
It is not that hard, you can use for example a check list with common problem and problems, which all electrotype, cast, transfer die and modern die fakes have for any coin and signs for authenticity which either can not get faked or which can hardly be faked.
I made bad experiences with the authentication skills from dealers and auction houses.
Some auction houses or dealers go out of business after a while, try to get a refund then if the coin will be condemned or recognized that late^^

I world rely more on arguments than on names and titles!
Only because someone writes mich and often it doesn t make him/her to an expert.

Authentication of most coins especially if they are well preserved is very easy if you have some experience and if you know where to look for! Only really high quality fakes can be very difficult to detect but even that can be learned but to reach that level you need talent or much experience.

Everyone is sue happy nowadays. I wont lose sleep over it.

And you just hit the nail on the head. they would have to prove it. You really think some seller is going to question every single potential seller and ask if they happen to see a post on Cointalk.com?!

The seller would have to prove every single would-be -buyer just happened to see my( or anyone elses) posts on this board.

Good luck trying to argue that in small claims/civil court.
Oh yeah..I can just see it now- Some ebay seller spending several thousand bucks on attorney and court fees for a 50 dollar coin LOL:yawn:

You are acting like I went on TV and stood next to the president with 150 million viewers and call this seller a bad risk in front of the camera.

Cmon buddy, Just lets get real here.

They can threaten to sue all they want. They can even take you to court- doesnt mean they will win. and i said its my opinion- and i have never once stated i am an expert. If someone decides not to buy a coin from my opinion only without doing the research themselves then that is their problem, not mine.

I stated my opinion. I am sticking with it. You can buy the coins or not. You can believe they are real or not Its your money, not mine.

I never said it was fake. i was joking. I said I dont trust it. it doesnt look right. I could be wrong and I probably am. You should do your own research too before buying anything.

Stick to reputable sellers with a good return policy

and keep in mind, the best sellers have been fooled by selling fakes. I can attest to this personally( 1 Marcus Aurelius and 1 Claudius this year so far)
I got my money back both times. Price of doing business.
