I'm posting some pics of two Morgan dollars that my buddy owns.

Can I get some grading opinions?

nice original 63's, nice to see some 80-s still original, not dipped. Top one may go 64???

    #1 looks like a 64.
    #2 looks like a 63.

    Nice coins, both of them.

Look like a pair of Mint State bagged coins. The 1st looks MS-63 and the 2nd also could be MS-63.

    Take Care

Couldv'e sworn I replied to this thread already, man, must be going senile. :D

Both beautiful Morgans! Stunning, I'll say the first one is a 63 A, maybe a 64 C, depends, and the the second is a gorgeuos coin, I'll say a 63 B. Very nice Morgans. :thumb:

I'm not Phoenix, but typically A is for high end, B for mid-range and C is for low end within a given grade.

I was kind of afraid of that. I was hoping we had a few years left before we drifted into that territory :(

Yeah I know, but it really wasn't common for most folks to use them. Personally, I've always avoided it. I've described many times that not all coins of a given grade are equal. But putting names to it, and using them when estimating grades on forums - well that is the harbinger of things to come. And I'd just as soon decimal grades never happened.

    9 MS grades times 3 = 27

70 needs no abc? ( just a sticker)

Please don't take me as rude, snotty, or anything of that sort. Just asking a question myself. Why are you asking a question, when you already know the answer? I know things can get misinterpreted over the computer, so I am asking this in all casualness. Mean no offense, rudeness, or anything of that sort.

I could be wrong, but I've read that the TPGs use ABC for help determing grades.
