1971 S Proof Lincoln Cent Doubled Die Obverse

    I found this proof and it looks to be a doubled die. I am trying to decide which one it is. FS-01-1971S-101 or 102. What do you think?

    I don't see a match to either on. Might be some die deterioration. @Rick Stachowski

    I sometimes see doubling on coins but then I clean my glasses and reveal the truth. It looks like it maybe a worn die to me.

    Nice photos. The serifs on the "E" look like doubling. I have heard that Proofs are struck twice, and that can cause a type of doubling that is different from what is called a Doubled Die struck coin. Keep up with your research.

    I see this in coins when I have the light off to one side but when I move the light directly over coin and take pics straight on they are gone. So you might try moving light and retake pics. Just a thought. Full pics of coin would also help.
