That is one beat up old lady there. Looks like it left the mint in a bag of gravel.

When I took Brian Silliman's grading course, the most trouble I had was I kept undergrading ALL gold. By that course, that coin is indeed what an MS60 SHOULD look like.

For the beat up aspects - yeah. For the wear aspects - nooooooo.

Here's where it gets sticky. Brian Silliman would deny there IS any wear there, just impacts.

No matter . . . any seller would be very hard pressed to get me to even consider buying a coin looking like that. There are enough better looking 1850 double eagles floating around for a lot less money.

Yup but did you read the seller's description? There's only 10 in that grade! Makes me want to rush out and get one. Lol

A MS60 isn't supposed to be a pretty coin. My problem isn't with the chatter which is grade appropriate for a MS60 (and a "C" coin). My problem is with appears to be significant rub to me. I think it would be better in a high grade AU holder.

Well, I'd be more upset if it sat in an AU58 holder....

    Why?

Because an AU58 is a desirable, attractive, lightly worn coin, by definition.

I’d pass on that one at any grade.

Crack it out, throw it in my pocket for a couple weeks and get it down to VF30 for my set...

A coupla nickels, a dime and a random Kennedy half would have that baby beaten to death in a week. ;)

2x 1965 Washies, 1x 2014 Kennedy and lately 2x Golden Dollars back from the soda machine.

The 65s, one is a red paint jukebox special and the other has been through the wars (it's not even flat anymore).

Dressier black pants, so soft. But after work, I'm wearing canvas cargos right now...
