Well if there is still room please count me in. I would love to see if some medieval English coins can't replicate the feats of medieval English armies and box the ears of some effete continentals.

If there isn't room, cest la vie. That's what I get for not checking the forum while out with the wife.

You are all in... and that puts us at 25 confirmed :wideyed::wideyed:

A bigger turnout than I had anticipated! I will leave the entry period open until tomorrow morning and see where we land. We could make 26 work but lets see if we can get to 32 and have a balanced bracket.

Just as information for the new and regular members alike. If needed I can assist with cropping photos and mounting them on a white / black background (assuming I'm not on the road at the time). Also if required I can provide some advice on the write up portion if it is a coin I am familiar with so don't let those two things keep you from playing.

Not sure how this exactly works or if this timing is an issue .. I am away until next Saturday the 28th. At a cottage on a lake near Ottawa with the family...while it is beautiful here I am away from most of my coins.. brought along a few recently cleaned LRBs to attribute - that’s it.
Hopefully I can post when I get back.. but if this is an issue I can sit out. No probs either way..

It was particularly nice here today.. not a bad shot from a phone... the other side of the bay is Quebec..

    Beautiful view @Clavdivs !

I'm glad you brought this up. The way it works is that once the entry period closes tomorrow morning I will send a PM to all the participants asking for a photo of the coin they wish to play in the first round and a description of why they like the coin. The description can be short and sweet or complex, whatever suits you (see the threads from last year for reference).

When I have enough responses to post the first two matches I will do so. Then the next two matches the next day and so forth.

As such I will probably need your entry before the 28th unless you end up with a bi-week. I will PM you to discuss.

Anyone else feel free to PM me if you have any questions on how the process works.

Does this mean we will not know who we are up against this time? There was a bit of strategy involved in that...

You will know. I will manage it the same as last time from that perspective. I'll give you a heads up in the PMs I send out tomorrow.

I just don't know what the seeding will be till we have everyone in.

I don't have any coins the forum hasn't already seen, but I'll give it a shot.

I'm in if there is room left.

Please count me in if it helps even numbers, this will give me a real imperative to start photographing my coins again as I was becoming disillusioned with my efforts, time being the enemy.

    Thread Closed to New Entries

Okay everyone I am going to officially close out the open entry period. I'll need to do a thorough count but I believe that we have 30 participants. I would like to reserve a spot for @lordmarcovan who expressed interest last year and I myself will throw in a coin if needed (whoever is in the match-up with me will advance automatically) to get us to a full 32 person bracket!

We might have some people drop out or be unable to participate because of schedule so if you missed the entry period but would like to be on the list of alternates please sent me a PM.

    Tentative Schedule
I'll be sending out the PMs letting everyone know who they will be up against throughout the day. I will post the first two match-ups as soon as I get the enough entries back, hopefully by Wednesday at the lastest. Then I will post two more everyday from there until the middle of next week and we will go from there into round 2!

A Rule I Forgot to Mention!!
I figured this one goes without saying here on CT but I will say it anyway. Any violation of CT Rules (particularly the ones about respect and civility) will result in a disqualification from the tournament. As the host of the game I reserve the right to disqualify anyone I believe to be in violation of the rules, game or CT. We don't want to have the mods decide our ancient board games are more trouble than they are worth and start shutting us down. I am confident we wont have any issues with all of the fine ladies and gentleman on this board though

I can only hope that everyone has a great time in this tourney! I really enjoyed last year's fun time. I wish EVERYone the best of luck! I wish EVERYone a really fun time. :)

LOL, well, me 'taint mighty, but it was a blast earning that title. Each of the brackets were extremely fun, but with a lot of anticipation. There were some INCREDIBLE coins in last year's threads!

Ok, I can get back to my cabbages now...
