I found this quarter in circulation. I tried to wash clothes and it fell through the washing machine. It definitely weighs less than a quarter. It also is smaller in circumference. It’s not as big around as a regular quarter. Also. It has no raised edge at all. There’s no lip. I thought it was pretty cool, so I thought I would join and see what you’ll thought of it Thanks
Don't wonder why. people do all sorts of things to coinage .. an UNLIMITED things. When I did a jewelry stuff I used to use coins instead of "blanks". As blanks cost say 17 cents each and were worthless after damage, coins were still worth face value. If you want to test your "center" on a lathe, use a coin. Buffer sides to something .. use coins (as they'll take a light strike/damage as well as a blank and cost NOTHING to use).
If you found it at a laundromat, it's a safe bet it spent a little time in a dryer. Looks like dryer damage to me, anyway.
