Hey @green18 You should grade more often while mildly intoxicated. You were actually quite close!.... Ya know... You just might be on to something here!

Crazy overgrade. Still a nice coin, but doesn't resemble other PCGS VF-20 examples IMO.

I wish @green18 became a grader and grade my coins.

I have already put together a stack of “under graded” coins and a fifth of fine scotch. Just waiting for him to PM me his address.

Overgraded or not (ok, yes, a little), it is a nice piece and one can see you are really enjoying it and that is what collecting early U.S coppers is all about:).
In fact, I think I see more early coppers in your future.....

Yes I fear you may be right. That seems to be the pattern to my collecting. Once I am smitten by a piece or series.... I just wish I fell for the twenty dollar coins!

I do have one question for those more educated on the TPG’s. My dealer has offered to carry this piece with him to a show in August to get the cent re-holstered as the holder is horribly scratched. If my attempts at polishing don’t get this holder spiffed up I may let him do this...... My question... If PCGS re-holsters the coin. Will they re-assess the grade?

I do believe that they will just re holder. Nice large copper Randy.

Did not expect VF 20. Thought the STATES OF area on the reverse would be a significant detraction despite the nice observe. Congrats on the obviously excellent purchase.

I think VF20 is spot on. BUT they excused the light environmental damage. Great coin either way.

I appreciate that. With my years of knowledge being around middle-late 19th and early 20th century coins, I rather had a hard time seeing a VF20 in this one. Nonetheless, I am still quite smitten with her. Has a prime place beside the seated half I acquired from you. Currently my two favorites. And after spending a few minutes with an old tee-shirt and polish, she is now much more photogenic.
