I just ordered my trinocular microscope with no attached camera. I want to use my Sony.

I'm going to play with the lighting and optical first, then mount up the camera afterward. I opted for the LED "ring light" that you can individually control each quadrant separately, even to shut it off. The portrait photographer in me tells me to NOT mount the center points at 12,3,6, and 9, but rather 1,4,7 and 10.

Oh, cool, does this mean you'll start posting photos of some of those Formative Years Untrimmed Fingernail varieties? :troll:

No, I went for one with a mag. range of 3.5x - 45x. I figure if I'm ever tempted to need more than 45x for ANY coin, I badly need to be slapped.

Imagine 24 screaming megapixels of 10x flow lines thumping across the screen.

35 on a D810, but that's another story for the naked city........

Do you put it on a scope, or just macro lenses?

$80 for an 1834 quarter in VF is a steal indeed. Have you tried to attribute its die marriage? Maybe it’s a scarce one, though that’d really just be more icing on the cake at this point.

So far, all I have checked it for is the "biggie" variety. It's NOT a "no point" (after 25 C). When my scope comes in, I have it slated as my first object.

Nice, that weeds out the very common B-1, the O/F variety.

Speaking of recent purchases, I just sniped these beauties on eBay:

Here is something I just bought today.
I know it is a waste of money, but I like handling worn Peace Dollars.

Plus I blew my budget for coins this month, and for next month, and the month thereafter, so I stuck buying this sort of thing.

Is it the peace that is worn, or the dollar?

What is the ugliest coin in your collection?

Anything proof or prooflike that reflects my image back to me. Seriously, I have an 1810 cent that is almost indistinguishable from a slug.
