While CRHing this morning, I came across this 1980 Lincoln that looks like it is a woody. Is it?

I'm not a woody expert but it does appear to be one based on your pic but let's see what other's think.

    Improper alloy mix.
    Looks like a classic Woodrow.
Is it streaked on the reverse too? I can't tell from the photo,
and I assume it would be on both sides if it is all the way through the alloy.

Funny, I have several pages of 20 of these but have yet to find one with both sides showing it.

AH OK. I wasn't sure. I figure the alloy mix has to go through the whole sheet of planchets, and why wouldn't it be on the reverse, and not on the obverse?
Most of the ones I recall are always heads.

A "woody" doesn't necessarily have to show on both sides. Although both sides is fairly common on earlier examples, it is actually (hopefully I'm remembering this correctly) somewhat of a rarity on later ones.

But wouldn't it have to in order to be considered a woody?

I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply that there are not woodies with both sides presenting, just that I have not found any to date. They are out there, just have not passed my way yet.

That surprises me, but there isn't a doubt in my mind you'll find one. A few years ago I remember finding a late 70's cent in change that displayed this rather strongly on both sides, but isn't a common thing. Like I said before, I believe it's more common on earlier dates. Good luck! :)
