well some people look at an offer as a potential to counter offer.
    So they do.
Your "mode" is different from theirs.

It all depends upon how much you *and* they value a coin, or not.

No, that's the price YOU think it should go for. Even if he countered with his original price his price is just as valid as yours--actually, more so since he owns the piece. Only he knows what the coin is worth--TO HIM.

When I make an offer on a coin that is the objective value of the coin and there really is nothing to discuss past that point. The seller should be thankful I was willing to take the time to make an offer on an overpriced piece - and furthermore, he should be thrilled to now know the actual value of the coin without needing to buy a copy of a price guide.

To make a counter offer, when I've already indicated the correct price, is insulting, or worse, ignorant.

what if the seller is a She ?
    LOL

Well, the seller has the right to reject your offer as they took the time to list it at a price they thought was appropriate.

I'm pretty sure the eBay Terms of Use doesn't allow women.
I may have confused the eBay Terms of Use policy with Iranian motor vehicle laws.
    They're so similar.

Yes, quite often sellers are wrong.
There should be a button on eBay that allows us to shock bad sellers.
I'd run up my electric bill with that feature.

As long as he agrees that your offer is the correct price. Once again, only HE knows what a coin is worth to him...and his valuation of the piece is what matters--once again, to him. Any, so-called "market value" is irrelevant.

There is not a single coin in my collection that I would sell at market value...if it wasn't worth more than that to me I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

I didn't get close enough to hear the actual song.

I know a former ANA president that could trump that. I don't know how he doesn't throw his shoulder out of joint.

I considered going to MS66 but I didn't want to look like a noob by over grading the coin so I went conservative. That, and the strike doesn't thrill me.
