I went to one of my "regular" PA auctions on Saturday, in York, PA. Located right where U.S.30 and I-83 cross, at the Sheraton Four Pointes.

I arrived a little late, so I missed the action on some small cents upgrades to my set. As I sat down, we were on Lot 28. I came armed with my sheet, marked my lots with color codes telling me why I wanted each piece and how aggressive to be. Within about 10 minutes, I had examined each lot and I knew what I was actually going to bid on.

At Lot 51 I picked up another nice Liberty nickel, 1901, but not PL like the 1883 I grabbed two weeks ago. I call it a 63/64 tweener with some really nicely struck stars, but impaired luster. Lots of flow lines all the way out at the periphery, both sides. The portrait is clean except for one round (not oblong) hit.

About an hour later, I added a piece to my 7070 set. With a bid of "only" $80, I took down an 1834 Bust Quarter that the ANA guide (which I do trust for circ. grades) says is a VF-30. Every guide I check tells me $80 was a steal.

So, one more 7070 album hole filled.

The quarter is actually in my Dansco 7070. The nickel is in a Lighthouse capsule, 21.5mm.

Oh, with a VERY cheap bid in an online auction, I "stole" the 7070 hole-filler for the 1983-Date Commemorative dollar hole, a 1988-D Olympic that is clean as a whistle, but came "capsule only." Perfect fit for the need.

I don't have a camera body that takes small enough pictures for xenForo's software. I'm in the market for an older body that can. My phone has NO SHOT at getting close enough.

I am getting to the point now where ALMOST every remaining empty hole in the 7070 is a Seated something or other.

Any mid-week auctions in York (or nearby +/- 30 minute drive)? August 14,15,16 time frame.

Gawd, I hope not! But it wouldn't be the first time they had one that coincided with the ANA World's Fair of Money. That is in Philly August 14-18. I will be there every day, opening til closing.

What are you shooting these days? You have no option to dial down the resolution on the body, or downsample an image on the machine you use to post here?

A Sony a6000. At its lowest resolution, it's still too large. Not on my phone, no. About 95% of my posts are either on my iPhone SE or my iPad, which is not of the highest RAM amount ever.

I'm considering installing gimp on my Ubuntu box at home. Anybody know if that handles an automated downscaling script?

In the Philly area, schools start after Labor Day. The New Jersey shore resorts would have a conniption if they started earlier.

Download PlayMemories and simply send the photos wirelessly from your camera to iPhone/iPad. They'll automatically be compressed and should post just fine as-is. Lightroom Mobile is actually pretty decent even in its free version if you don't want to screw around with a computer.

Ooh. I like the looks of that. Thanks for the tip.

    Absolutely.

I have to admit that I've become quite fond of the app, especially since it's Sony-produced, but for your stated purpose it should both suffice as well as supplant any need for buying an additional camera.

That said, I just double checked and was not able to directly upload a full sized transferred jpg from PlayMemories, at least with my present settings (there's a way to set this to whatever your preference is). However, after loading into Lightroom and re-saving as a smaller file, it was able to load just fine and only took a few seconds to do.

I'm going to monkey with it anyway. My default setting is RAW plus JPG, unless I'm doing a quick sequence, like catching a ribbon cutting in mid-air.

That's what I use as well and while we've different models, both are 24mp. If memory serves me, the default setting should allow photos transferred to be used as is, but if wanting full size it must be done under settings (the first option once clicked). Either way I hope it helps.
