This really hasent been a problem until now as i have stored all my currency,bullion And guns plus other valuables in either a safe deposit box or in a secure cabinet in my den. so i decided to complicate matters and go out any buy a 1,200 pound gun safe, this things is huge...LOL, but the problem is its just to big to put anywhere in The house, my den is upstairs so for obvious reasons not a good choice. So i have in a great place in the garage, however its hotter then you know what in there with temps in the 105-110 range most of the summer and would say add atleast 5-10 degrees to that, i am a little bit concerned about possible affects to the notes, its very Dry here with humidity levels of only 7-10% so moisture levels are not a problem. But i do have several one of a kind notes that are worth several thousand dollars and would rather have them close by to enjoy then setting in some safe deposit box gathering dust. Would really like to hear from anybody else that is dealing with a similar issue.
I did exactly what you need to do. I bought one of those thousand pound safes and wanted it upstairs. I toted that heavy beast home with the back of my pick-up dragging the ground. Then I called Two Men And A Truck and gave them a hundred bucks to tote the thing upstairs for me. I would be more afraid of a safe in the garage being noticed by ner-do-wells when I opened the garage door myself. It would concern me more than the heat would.

Almost every "scientific" study on this tends to be on artwork, usually canvas, paper or wood, but unless notes were polyester, should still apply. So I agree with Steve and Dave above. The little valuable currency I have is stored in SDB at a bank I used to be on the board, until sold to conglomerate, so I know that they use separate system for the vaults to regulate beyond fluctuations of coming and goings through the lobby. They used 42-44% humidity as the guidelines there which is within the range of 40-50% in the majority of the aspects in the article above. Jim
Not to worried, about the security end of it as it weighs 1,280 pounds to be exact and is bolted in concrete, the safe has 3 2 3/4 inch bolts on top and the same on the Bottom, has 5 2 3/4 on the side i guess if you had some dynamite maybe you could Get it open, but the actual security part i am really not concerned with because of those factors. again a more concerned about the heat, i remember several years ago i put a shot gun under by bed when i lived in California and it actually rusted !! and pitted and it was even in a specially treated gun bag.
