    Just kidding.

But I do find it odd that the mint doesn't seem to read their own website.

    Lincoln Penny (1959–2007)

    Circulating Coins
    • Year of Issue: 1959
    • Authorizing Legislation: Coinage Act of 1792
    Background
This new penny design was introduced in 1959, replacing the Indian Head Cent. The Lincoln cent was the first cent produced with the motto In God We Trust.

The obverse design featuring president Abraham Lincoln, was first produced in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

The reverse image of the Lincoln Memorial was selected to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. It replaced the Wheat Ears design that appeared on the reverse of the 1909 Lincoln cent.

This design was used for the penny from 1959 to 2007.

Two United States Mint Directors, James Ross Snowden and James Pollock, served under President Lincoln’s tenure in office.

The whole page is in need of revision. Technically the Lincoln penny (or more appropriately the "cent") is still issued for circulation so with the way it is written it should state "1959-", not too dissimilar to when one reads about a well known individual in an encyclopedia who is still alive.

The page could be revised to get more detailed and specific to state that the Lincoln Memorial Cent was issued from 1959-2008. It could also stand to include the bicentennial cents of 2009 and subsequent shield cents from 2010 to the present. I have a feeling that would be asking too much of the author(s), however. The content of the page was supposedly revised in January of last year but it doesn't look like it did much good.

Just hang near the U.S. Mint booth at any coin show where they have a booth and listen to their people. Not the sharpest implements in the drawer.

But they do exist! I read it on the internet so it must be true! The story was that Bigfoot was seen on video spending a 2008 Lincoln cent at a convenience store....

Are you sure you don’t mean 1908?

    Cause the 2008 certainly exists.

    Here’s the proof.

I bought a $25 bag of Ellis Island Quarters. The guy got it out of the cabinet (they come in those boxes) and shook it quite vigorously as he gave it to me with a smile on his face. I said uhhh why did you shake the box like that? He smiled and just shrugged his shoulders. I had to ask for another one, not shaken.
