Well Penny roll hunting I found this 1992 Lincoln cent with words from the reverse visible on the obverse side. The word of and some of the letters from the word States and some letters from the word America. Also a possible die crack along the word States. Could anybody tell me what this is if it's an error coin or not. Thank you in advance for everyone's knowledge
Sorry, not seeing anything you are. Looks like an environmentally damaged reverse and a normally circulated obverse, but that's just my opinion. Maybe others have better eyes.
I've been pretty good at seeing things that aren't there in the past on a coin (lol) but not seeing it here .
My main wonder is, on the front, I can see the letters from the back side of the coin....it would be about middle of Lincoln's body area. And right around his right arm and the edge of the coin is the word of (backwards obviously) ....maybe the picture is just not showing enough detail. But I know I can see reverse wording on the obverse......
I can't see it either, but if what you are seeing is "reverse wording' then it wasn't struck that way. It's probably the result of another coin being pressed into this one.
Ok let's go this route......if there in fact is (let's pretend there was) reverse lettering on the obverse side.....what kind of error is that considered. And would it be worth anything?
If there was, it could result from a few different things. Clashed dies, re-struck/ flip over, dropped letters, etc. Depending on the error and the severity of the error, yes they can be worth a premium. Here is a good link to all sorts of errors and how they occur. Study this and how coins /dies / blanks are made. It is really really really hard to see it even when I look at it. And the words are not backwards and dented in, (if it was two coins that pressed together) it is backwards and protruding outward.....
Backwards and protruding outward is not possible except when the lettering on a normal coin would be incuse.

Oh no. Don't go there. Hey i saw a M. At that point i was the only one that saw anything. Was saying i couldn't tell if it was two coin squeezed together. You can't tell when i can only see a M. Do you get my cuteness now. Lightin up
