Liberty "V" 's are very common except in Mid-Higher grades , they wear out fast in circulation , more than other coins.
As to the nickels they’re not worth a lot maybe $1 for the pair but they’re cool. Why not save 100+ year old coins for their conversation and cool factor. Maybe it will inspire more collecting
I picked 39 because that might be the value of one or both of those worn out nickels - maybe you should donate those coins to the following org.
Gift them to a youngster who likes collecting coins. Its getting harder to find kids who are interested...Spark
I'm curious how you mean that they wear out fast in circulation? These coins were last minted over 100 years ago. With so few in active circulation in the present day I ponder that this can be a difficult assessment to make. As an aside, to the designer of the Liberty V-nickel's credit, I've yet to find one that was dateless no matter how worn. I wish the same could be said for its (inferiorly made) successor...
