Hello all. I normally collect world coins from the 15th thru the 18th centuries. I recently picked up a lot of 8 coins from a CNG auction. The below pictures are of a coin that wasn't pictured in the lot photo. It is outside of my knowledge. Sorry about the lousy photos, I was having trouble as is obvious. It measures about 16mm x 18mm. Just looking for some guidance. All CNG had on the holder was "Jerusalem".
@Deacon Ray might be able o help with your coin.. I don't think it's from Jerusalem but I'm no ancient expert
I think this article discusses your coin but doesn't attribute it to a reference: http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v05n42a11.html
Welcome to the Ancients Forum, @Chris B ! I looked at your images and tried to find them in the ancient coin reference sites that I use, but was unsuccessful. Thanks to @kevin McGonigal , and @Roman Collector who mentioned Morocco. Mysia, Spain, and Thrace use pentagrams on their coins also. It could be medieval, possibly from the time of the Crusades. Sorry I can't help further One of my friendly dealers specializes in Middle Eastern coins: Dr. Pankaj Tandon of CoinIndia at: coinindia@vcoins.com You could ask his opinion.
So far this is the closest one I have found with the help of my good friend Google. While it is similar to the one side of my coin I don't feel like it is leading me down the correct path. Coin of King Juba II of Numidia
