Since we're coming up on the 4th, why not post a nice British CircCam? ;)

Nice find! Not really strong on the CircCam contrast, but it's there a little bit. I like the grey toning, regardless. And a silver quarter in change is a memorable event!

2 more to share. Not the best but I like them. 20180702_061728.jpg 20180702_061646.jpg 20180702_061756.jpg 20180702_061824.jpg

I agree. Not everybody would like those, and they have their issues, but I kinda like 'em, too. The black-and-white aspect of that Libnick is pretty cool (as is the fact it's mintmarked!), and I've always liked the toning that the Flying Eagle and 1861-64 CuNi Indians often develop. That particular Indian crosses into "environmental damage" territory, but it's still neat looking. A nice cheaper Civil War relic, if you wanna look at it that way.

Both look better from a distance. Lol and really nice in my album.

I do find that V-nick quite groovy. My first-ever Shield nickel in my childhood collection (1866 w/Rays) looked like that. I bought it sight-unseen via mailorder for $5 in 1978. Five bucks was a notable purchase for me back in those days.

Here's a cool sorta-on-one-side circam from Israel when it was called Palestine and under British mandate. IMG_1239.JPG IMG_1238.JPG

I like the look of that Norwegian 2-kronor piece. Well worn, but not worn out, and quite handsome. It's not string on CircCam contrast, but there's just enough there. Really, that's how a wholesome circ should look.

Thank you, M'Lord! Glad you like it. I just thought of this one, very odd sort of a "cameo" appearance, with the background being red mud rather than toning?

    That's what I call a "DirtCam".

That sort of earthen patina on ancients is called ... well ... "earthen patina".

It's also often called "desert patina". Or "sandy patina".

It looks great. I'm a sucker for ancient bronze with that look. Speaking of suckers, some unscrupulous operators fake that kind of patina, since it's so popular. I gather it's pretty easy to fake. That doesn't stop me from liking it. Anyway, I see no reason to doubt the patina on your Constantine, there. Looks good to me. The folks on the Ancients forum could give you more qualified opinions on that.
