2018 brand new Michigan Pictured Rocks

Has anyone seen this error on the 2018 Michigan State Quarter "pictured rocks??" Right on the surfce area of the neck, looks like there is a letter transfer sticking out from the Adams Apple! Looks like it might be an E. What do you all think??

Do you mean the gear looking mark? like the rim edge of a quarter ?

Is your quarter AT'd or is it simply the lighting ?

 

I believe the focus is on the three tracks just forward of George's neck. Looks like some sort of mechanical grab marks.

 

It is a good hit from the reeding of another Quarter.. Not a letter E and Not a Mint Error

What is AT'd? Are you talking about the blue here? Yes that just the lighting.

 

So nothing significant about this? I have another from the same new coin roll that has the same marking just in a different spot.

Hi... AT stands for artificial toning. An unfortunate current fad among unscrupulous folks looking to turn a quick buck by damaging a coin.

 

Stick with it. It’s the hobby of kings.... And us regular folk too! It does seem like a lot to take in. I collected feverishly until the 1990’s when I raised a family. I dove back in not long ago and it was like learning a new language! But there is something for everyone. Just have fun!

 

The hobby of Kings is kind of sad also. Because many of the most valuable U.S. coins in history are actually in the hands of real Kings. They should be here in the U.S. and in the Smithsonian on display. Not in their cellars collecting dust.

 

If you look at that mark. Then look closely at the edge of any quarter. I bet you could match up the reeding (uneven edge of a quarter) with those marks.... Business strike coins aren’t necessarily handled gently. They get tossed into bags and those bags tend to get tossed around. Quite easy for one coin to bang against another leaving a mark! So in reality, no nothing significant there. But keep looking!

NEAT.. makes one wonder what the image really was and what denomination it REALLY belongs to.

 

Except it’s raised!

 

There may be something to this. It does not look like a typical hit. Is is raised or recessed? Interesting

 

Looking at it, some of it is raised and some is indented.
So the indents were the raised part of the other reeded coin,
and the raised parts were the indents of the other reeded coin. Leaving the host coin
intact at those spots and looking raised. When it's just the original surface that has not been indented. (If it was pressed on hard enough.)
Just an opinion. I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

 

So now there does look to be something weird on this?? Lol dorry I hadn't checked my stuff in a while
